Install Azureus in OpenSolaris 2008.05 |

Step by step install of Azureus on Open Solaris 2008.05
We are not showing you how to install Azureus (JavaBit Torrent Client) on OpenSolaris
Start OpenSolaris 2008.05 and login

Click on Thumbnail to zoom

First we need to be able to login as "root" so that we can install Azureus. to do this we open the terminal -> Applications -> System Tools -> Terminal |

in the terminal type " su root " (without the quotaion marks) | Enter |, type your root password | Enter |. Next we need to to go to the /etc directory -> type " cd /etc/ " (without the quotaion marks) | Enter | now we want to edit the ' user_attr ' file, to do this type " gedit user_attr " (without the quotaion marks)

user_attr file is open in gedit, scroll all the way down and remove ' type=role ' that is at the beginnig of root (click on thumbnail to view how the root line should look) -> once done click [ Save ]. Done, exit gedit and terminal -> Log out from Solaris -> Log back in, this time as root (user) and with your root password |

A warning comes up because you are now in logged in as root, click [ Continue ] |

Solaris starts up, browse to http://www.comp-sos.com, go to this tutorial (if not there yet) click here to download azureus-2.5.0.4-solaris10-gtk-x86.tar_3.gz Make sure [ Open with Archive Manager ] is selected -> click OK

Archive Manager is active and ready to extract the package. Extract to /usr directory. When done. Open the File Browser (Places -> Computer) and navigate to the Azureus directory |

Right click and edit the 'azureus' file with the text editor |
|
|
 |
Change the path to the azureus bin as shown on the picture (PROGRAM_DIR="/usr/azureus" # use full path to Azureus bin dir) -> Save |

 |
Now open the Terminal (right click -> Open Terminal) and type " ./azureus ". Follow instructions. When installion is finished. Logout and log back in as user |

Open the Main Menu Application (System -> Preferences -> Main Menu). Click [ Add ] enter the values as shown on the picture in the Create Laucher Window, |

 |
click on the icon and browse to /usr/azureus/ -> select azureus.png -> click [ OK ] -> Click [ Close ] |
|
|
 |
Go to Applications -> Internet -> and launch Azureus. Follow the instructions, open port if necessary. Azureus will make some updates and you will be asked to restart. Have fun! |

The Azureus module resides at the top right of your menubar. Right click on it do to customize or close Azureus. |
